Harold Blue is an experienced private equity investor with more than 20 years as a healthcare operator and entrepreneur. He most recently served as Managing Partner for ComVest Investment Partners II (“ComVest II”), a private equity fund formed in 2003 with $165 million in committed capital. Mr. Blue was also a Partner of ComVest I and President of Commonwealth Associates Group Holdings, LLC, an investment banking firm. At ComVest, Mr. Blue initiated and oversaw seven of the firm’s investments, including three significant healthcare companies, and served on more than 15 boards of directors.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Mr. Blue was the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of four healthcare companies, three of which he sold and one he took public. Mr. Blue was the founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ProxyMed, Inc., which he took public in 1993. During his tenure (1993 through 2000), he raised over $100 million in capital for the business and transformed the company from an institutional pharmacy
business to a leading healthcare technology company.
From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Blue was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Health Services, Inc., a multi-physician practice management company, which he sold to Inphynet, a public company, for a five times multiple of invested capital. In 1984, he formed Best Generics, a national generic drug distributor. He sold the business for a sixteen times multiple of original investment in 1988 to IVAX Corporation, a $7.5 billion market cap leader in generic drug manufacturing and distribution. Mr. Blue served on the Board of Directors of IVAX for two years. From 1979 to 1984, Mr. Blue founded and served as CEO of Budget Drugs, a discount chain of retail pharmacies, and sold the company to various entities, including Eckerd Drugs.
