Jeffery S. Thompson is the Operating Partner for HealthEdge Investment Partners' portfolio companies in their Healthcare Products Group. Thompson is responsible for managing the portfolio companies of the Healthcare Products Group and currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Advanced Bio-Technologies, Inc. and as Chairman of Woodbury Products, Inc., both HealthEdge Healthcare Products Group portfolio companies. Throughout his career, Thompson has utilized his knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and his people-oriented management style to recruit and retain top talent for teams that have produced significant revenue growth and business improvements domestically and internationally. Thompson's strategic planning skills, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to simultaneously provide executive leadership to multiple teams or business units have proven instrumental in optimizing operations and infrastructure to support growth and meet corporate objectives.
Prior to joining HealthEdge, Thompson was Chief Operating Officer for Stiefel Laboratories, Inc., the world's largest independent pharmaceutical company specializing in dermatology. He continues to serve as a member of Stiefel's Board of Directors. Stiefel (a privately held company with annual global revenues over $900 million) manufactures and markets a variety of prescription and non-prescription dermatological products through its wholly-owned global network which is comprised of more than 30 subsidiaries, manufacturing plants in six countries, research and development facilities on four continents, and products marketed in more than 100 countries around the world.
During his tenure as Stiefel's COO, Thompson played a key role in integrating Stiefel's U.S. and International Business while having direct responsibility for many aspects of Stiefel's operations at a global level, including: corporate administration, facilities management, supply chain management, technical operations, information technology, human resources, organizational development, legal affairs, quality assurance, pharma covigilance, and the office of ethics and corporate compliance. He also gained additional functional business expertise with interim positions of shared responsibility for R&D and Medical Affairs.
Prior to becoming Stiefel's COO, Thompson served as Stiefel's Senior Vice President U.S. Business Services and President of Glades Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure in this dual leadership role, Glades grew from $36 million to over $73 million.
Earlier in his career, Thompson held Sales and Business Management positions at Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceuticals and began his career at SmithKline Beecham as a Professional Sales Representative. Thompson received his Bachelor's degree in General Science after completing one year of study in Dental Medicine, both at the University of Pittsburgh. An outdoor enthusiast, Thompson spends his free time scuba diving, kayaking, boating and hiking. He is also a commercially rated multi-engine instrument pilot and enjoys leisure travel, cooking and reading.
